Vinnies NSW Opens Warehouse Outlet Stores in Surry Hills and South Nowra

Vinnies NSW outlet stores opened as warehouse-style outlets in Surry Hills and South Nowra between December 2025 and January 2026, selling close to 54,000 items in two months at bundle-focused prices. Updated 28 June 2026.

The charity’s Autumn 2026 Record magazine and its PDF edition describe the outlets as a final chance for high-turnover clothes, homewares, and bric-a-brac before disposal. Surry Hills opened at 406 Elizabeth Street in December 2025; South Nowra followed in January 2026 at 1/142 Princes Highway.

For NSW thrifters, the format is distinct from boutique inner-city racks and from curated online listings on Vinnies Finds. Outlets concentrate volume and value rather than label hunting.

Why Vinnies added outlet formats

Vinnies NSW received and sorted 3.7 million kilograms of donated textiles in one financial year, selling 10.7 million units across the state. Australians now buy more clothing per person than any other country, the Record cites, with pieces kept for roughly half as long as 15 years ago.

Mega stores offer expansive layouts across many categories. Outlet stores play a different role: high-volume, low-priced items designed to extend the life of preloved goods that can otherwise move toward recycling or landfill.

In just a couple of months the two outlets sold close to 54,000 items. Bundle deals and promotional offers across selected categories are the draw, not designer rails.

What shoppers will find inside

Photos in the Record show warehouse aisles stacked with tees, dresses, books, and bric-a-brac. Pricing follows affordability and turnover rather than Depop-style markup on single gems.

That does not mean there are no surprises. Outlet stock rotates quickly when donation inflow stays high. Regular visits beat one-off treasure hunts if you want household basics or kids’ clothes on a tight budget.

Where the money goes

Like every Vinnies shop, outlet revenue supports local hardship programs. Vinnies NSW’s 220 shops and six distribution centres raised $91.7 million in the last financial year reported in the magazine, reinvested in food, clothing, housing support, and financial assistance.

Outlet pricing is partly a waste-management strategy and partly a fundraising tool. Moving slow stock at low margin beats paying to dispose of it.
